Rob Gallacher appointed Principal at Longview School

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Rob Gallacher as the new Principal of Longview School, effective August 22, 2025. 

Mr. Gallacher brings a wealth of diverse teaching and leadership experience, having worked with students from grades 1-12. His extensive background in supporting diverse learners, including vulnerable and at-risk youth, positions him as an exceptional leader for our school community. Mr. Gallacher is well-versed in high-impact pedagogical approaches that cater to the academic and social-emotional success of all students. His expertise includes implementing cultures of thinking, positive behavior supports, trauma-informed practices, and the Circle of Courage approach, where every student can develop a sense of belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity.

I feel so honoured and excited to have the chance to join the Longview School community. Having the opportunity to move out to a community school in the beautiful foothills is truly a dream come true.

Through his career in Foothills School Division Mr. Gallacher has demonstrated excellence in establishing strong relationships with all members of the school community in each school community he has served. He has a proven track record of building meaningful connections with students, their families, and the school's teaching and support staff. His collaborative approach ensures that everyone works together to support the students' growth and success. We are confident that Mr. Gallacher's leadership will inspire and elevate the Longview School community, and we look forward to the positive impact he will make in his new role. 

Mr. Gallacher has served as teacher, Learning Coach, and Vice Principal at various FSD schools including École Okotoks Junior High School, Education Plus, Oilfields School, Foothills Digital School, École Senator Riley Middle School (VP), and Cameron Crossing/Outreach (VP). Mr. Gallacher has also provided leadership as Principal and teacher with FSD Summer School for many years. 

Mr. Gallacher holds his Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University, Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and Masters of Education from Athabasca University. He was granted his Alberta Leadership Certificate in 2022. 

As he prepares to join the Longview school community Mr. Gallacher shares, "I am so grateful for the time I had at Cameron Crossing School and Foothills Digital School and will miss the wonderful staff and students I had the privilege of working alongside of these past several years. And I feel so honoured and excited to have the chance to join the Longview School community. Having the opportunity to move out to a community school in the beautiful foothills is truly a dream come true."
