Students and staff from the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) have supported the Terry Fox Foundation through school run, walk, or wheel events and other activities for decades. In 2024, SCDSB school communities committed to the Foundation's theme of #NoMatterWhat and raised over $230,000, surpassing $5 million in total funds raised.
Students throughout the SCDSB continue to learn and be inspired by Terry Fox's courage, strength, and legacy. In April, students at James Keating ES were visited by his brother, Fred Fox, who shared Terry's enduring message of hope while congratulating the school community for their continued commitment to finishing what Terry started. The school has been participating in the Terry Fox Run since 1995 and has raised over $20,000 in that time.
Terry Fox wanted to set an example that would never be forgotten. Millions of students across Canada have taken part in the Terry Fox School Run every year to raise funds for cancer research, making it one of the largest fundraising events in Canadian history.
