If you ask Wade Nassar, he'll tell you teaching Business isn't just a job it's a chance to change lives. And now, he has the hardware to prove it.
Wade, a dedicated Business Studies teacher at St. Matthew High School, has been named the 2025 CPA Ontario Accounting Teacher of the Year. The award, presented by Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario, recognizes educators who go beyond the textbook those who inspire curiosity, fuel confidence, and help students see how their learning connects to the world around them.

He received the honour earlier this month at the Ontario Business Educators' Association (OBEA) Spring Conference, where colleagues and fellow educators celebrated his remarkable work. Under Wade's leadership, St. Matthew's Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Business program has become a powerhouse, with students winning eight provincial awards since 2019.
"I'm deeply honoured by this recognition and grateful to be part of a school community that values academic excellence and professional learning," Wade shared.
His teaching style blends passion, real-world relevance, and a genuine care for students' success. Wade's approach to education embodies the best of Catholic teaching: service, excellence, and the belief that every student has the potential to thrive.
"To teach a subject that helps students understand how the real world works and then watch them go on to terrific post-secondary institutions, to wonderful careers, and to live great lives that's the best part of this job."
Congratulations, Wade! Your impact is making a real difference in the lives of your students past and present..
