Saints Volleyball Star Madison McClain Signs with Minnesota North College Rainy River Campus

June 3, 2025

It's an exciting time for St. Thomas Aquinas High School as one of our very own, Madison McClain, has officially signed with Minnesota North College Rainy River Campus to play volleyball for the Voyageurs.

Madison, a dedicated member of the Saints Volleyball team throughout her high school career, will be joining the Voyageurs this fall ready to take her skills to the next level in both athletics and academics. The signing marks a major milestone in her journey as a student-athlete, reflecting years of hard work, perseverance, and passion for the game.

For Madison, the next chapter brings a sense of anticipation and adventure.

"I'm really excited to go and meet a bunch of new people, meet new teammates, and experience what it's like in the U.S. that'll be really cool," Madison shared. "I'm definitely going to miss home, but I'm looking for something new. I think it'll be a good experience."

As Madison prepares to trade in her Saints jersey for a Voyageur jersey, she leaves behind a legacy at STAHS a shining example of what it means to follow your passion, put in the work, and chase your dreams.

Congratulations, Maddie! We're so proud of you and can't wait to see what's next on your journey.

Her commitment and growth as a player have not gone unnoticed. Saints Volleyball coach and athletic lead Megan Derouard shared her pride in Madison's achievements:

"I'm extremely proud of Maddie today. Volleyball has been Maddie's thing it's been something that has grounded her for many years and has given her self-confidence and the ability to know she's good enough to do something. To see her moving on to Rainy River Community College, I couldn't be more proud as a coach. I was actually lucky enough to go there myself back in 2002 and had an incredible experience. The small class sizes, the competition level junior college is just next level. It really opens doors and creates opportunities for student-athletes to move on and play at the university level. Maddie's hard work and dedication have definitely paid off, and I can't wait for her to experience Shelby and the program at Rainy River Community College."

Maddie's new coach, Shelby Nosan, Head Volleyball and Softball Coach at Rainy River, shared her excitement about welcoming Maddie to the team:

"Yes, we are very excited to have Maddie joining us this upcoming season. She has a very unique set of talents being a setter and also able to hit as well. We're excited to emphasize those talents in our program. She has such a genuine personality so kind and kind-hearted. But when she's on the court, that competitive edge shines through. She wants to win, and she's aggressive in that light. We're thrilled to have her as part of our program.
