The Nouvelon Catholic School Board is proud to announce that several schools have been awarded EcoSchools Canada certification for the 2024-2025 school year. This national recognition highlights the exemplary commitment of these schools to promoting environmental learning and encouraging concrete actions towards sustainability and climate action.
The CSC Nouvelon schools below are certified EcoSchools:
Platinum Level Certification : La Renaissance Catholic High School (Espanola)
Gold Level Certification :
- Champlain Catholic High School (Chelmsford)
- St. Paul School (Lively)
- St-Antoine School (Noëlville)
- Our Lady of the Falls School (Sault-Ste-Marie)
- St. Charles Borromeo School (St. Charles)
Bronze Level Certification :
- St. Joseph School (Hanmer)
- Sacred Heart Secondary School (Sudbury)
In addition, 13 other schools in the CSC Nouvelon earned recognition for their participation, including Ste-Marie School (Azilda), Saint-Joseph School (Blind River), Notre-Dame de la Merci School (Coniston), Georges Vanier Catholic School (Elliot Lake), Notre-Dame School (Hanmer), Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury), St-Denis School (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard Catholic School (Sudbury), Horizon Catholic Secondary School (Val Caron), Jean-Paul II School (Val Caron), Ste-Thérèse School (Val Thérèse), Saint-Joseph Elementary School (Wawa) and Saint-Joseph Secondary School (Wawa).
In these 21 schools, student-led environmental clubs, with the support of various school staff members, have led projects with significant ecological impact in several areas such as greening, energy reduction, waste management, composting, and environmental protection. Through numerous initiatives, these schools have promoted environmental leadership, reduced their ecological footprint, and actively contributed to the creation of an eco-responsible school community.
