Dunlop Public School was buzzing with excitement for the major summer renovations. But earlier in May, the renewal had already begun in one of the school's most beloved spaces: the library.

When Wildfire Designs Ottawa heard about the upcoming changes, the team reached out with an incredible offer. Artists Emily, a former OCDSB student, and Bethany volunteered their talents to create a custom mural for the space. Collaborating with the school, they designed a charming, playful scene that has transformed the library.
The students watched with fascination as the mural came to life, adding a touch of magic to their reading corner. The new artwork, which features the Dunlop Dragon, has been a huge hit with the kids.
"The mural is so cool. I really like seeing the Dunlop Dragon on it," said Adnan, a Grade 5 student.
In addition to the vibrant mural, the library received a much-needed upgrade in comfort. New, cozy seating replaced the old plastic chairs, making the space even more inviting.
Grade 6 student Hala loves the change, saying, "It feels so cozy in the library now. We don't have to sit on plastic chairs anymore, and I like looking at the mural." Another student, Ellie, agreed, adding, "I love that we have comfortable chairs to sit in."
Supporting a love of reading is a core focus at Dunlop PS, and the school was thrilled to partner with Wildfire Designs to bring this vision to life. The new library is now a welcoming, inspiring place for students to get lost in a good book.
