ENGLISH MONTREAL SCHOOL BOARD
Hampstead School celebrates its 100th anniversary

Students at the English Montreal School Board   returned to class on Tuesday, September 2. Special guests were  invited to Hampstead Elementary School for a special assembly to celebrate its 100th anniversary.  


The Town of Hampstead presented a special certificate to the school.

A number of prominent former graduates were on hand, including Canadian real estate mogul Jonathan Wener, David Byer of Babar Books, Côte Saint-Luc City Councillor Andee Shuster,  Pam Wener from the Montreal Centre for Learning Disabilities and Milan Gilmore, who went on to a career at Rio Tinto Alcan.   EMSB Chair Joe Ortona was joined by D'Arcy McGee Liberal MNA Elisabeth Prass, Mount Royal Liberal MP Anthony Housefather, members of Hampstead Town Council and of course the students.

Hampstead School was opened in 1925, and for decades served as a community school for the quiet and affluent residential town of Hampstead. It has since evolved into a school with a much more encompassing student population.
