UPPER GRAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
UGDSB Continuing Education opens doors to the trades

October 29, 2025

Upper Grand District School Board Continuing Education is excited to announce enrollment for Tech Education courses in three high-demand areas: Hairstyling and Esthetics, Construction Technology, and Transportation Technology. These hands-on programs are designed to equip learners with practical skills that directly support careers in the skilled trades.

Each course provides valuable experience that can help students transition into apprenticeship programs or other post-secondary pathways. For those students working toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), these courses also count for high school credit.

In the skilled trades, the average age of a new apprentice is often older than in other post-secondary routes. Adults typically bring a level of maturity, work ethic, and life experience that makes them ideal candidates for the rigours of an apprenticeship. These tech courses offer a structured, supportive environment for adults with limited or no technological education background to gain practical, hands-on experience - an important first step to exploring a potential pathway in sectors that are actively seeking skilled workers.

Registration is now open. For more information or to enroll, visit Upper Grand Continuing Education's website or contact the office directly:
