HAMILTON-WENTWORTH CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Crusaders Capture A/AA Invitational Football Title

December 4, 2025

On Friday November 21 the St. Mary Catholic Secondary School Senior Football Team was invited to the first A/AA Invitational Football Bowl Festival at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.

The Crusaders took on the Belle River Nobles (Windsor) who finished the season without a loss.

St. Mary got out to an early lead and never looked back defeating Belle River 31-7.

With a population under 950, St. Mary is the smallest school in one of the most powerful, competitive and prestigious leagues in Ontario (HWCAA). This event was a great opportunity for a collection of AA schools in Ontario to compete against each other.

"Our team was proud to represent Hamilton Catholic football at a provincial level," said Head Coach Sean Dennison. "Playing in the league that we do, although a tough task week to week, helps to make us better. I believe our league is the best in Ontario."

"Last Friday was something special," added Quarterback and Grade 12 student Joshua Canzio.

"My receivers balled out and made huge plays all game, our defense stood on their heads, and our line worked their butts off with most of them going both ways. It took every single one of us to win that A/AA invitational title, and ending my career with that group of brothers is something I'll always be proud of."
