The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is proud to announce that two students and one alumnus from Fort McMurray Composite High School have been recognized with the prestigious Premier's Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities Awards. These annual awards celebrate individuals, youth, organizations, and advocates whose leadership has made a meaningful difference in the lives of persons with disabilities. This year's recipients from FMPSD exemplify the values of inclusion, resilience, and community impact.

Quinton Jaycox - Grade 11
Quinton Jaycox, a Grade 11 student at Fort McMurray Composite High School, has been recognized for his leadership and dedication to his school community. Quinton, who moved to Fort McMurray as a young child, is currently enrolled in the Lifeskills Program, where he focuses on functional literacy, math, and employability skills.
Quinton is an active member of the school, serving on the Student Council and managing the JV Boys Volleyball and Basketball teams. His enthusiasm and commitment inspire his peers and contribute to the positive atmosphere at Composite High. While he is preparing for the challenges of graduating and entering the workforce, Quinton's determination and positive attitude are sure to lead him to success.
Bella Carroll - Grade 11
Bella Carroll, a Grade 11 student at Fort McMurray Composite High School, is being celebrated for her compassion, hard work, and positive impact on her school and community. Bella enjoys baking in the classroom, swimming at MacDonald Island, and spending time with her friends and family. With the support of her family, educators, and respite workers, Bella is thriving both academically and socially.
Bella is known for her kindness, patience, and willingness to help others. She takes pride in being a good listener and a supportive friend, and she hopes to encourage more open conversations about disabilities. Bella's gratitude for her teachers and support team is evident in her daily life, and her positive energy is a testament to the power of inclusion and understanding.
Walli-Abdaal Mohammad - FMPSD Alumnus, Class of 2025
Walli-Abdaal Mohammad, a recent graduate of Fort McMurray Composite High School, has been honoured for his dedication to personal growth and community involvement. During his time at Composite High, Walli-Abdaal participated in programs that helped him build essential skills, such as computer literacy and workplace readiness, which gave him the confidence to pursue employment and independence.
For the past four years, Walli-Abdaal has been a valued employee at Mary Brown's, where he takes pride in his work and contributes meaningfully to the community. Known for his kindness and belief in fairness, Walli-Abdaal is a strong advocate for respect and equality for individuals with disabilities. His positive outlook and commitment to his role continue to inspire those around him.
