The construction progresses on the new public elementary school in Lac La Biche, Northern Lights Public Schools (NLPS) is excited to provide the community with an opportunity to suggest a name for the new school. The new facility will replace an existing school, and the division is seeking a fresh name that reflects the community and the bright future of its students.
"Building a new school is a significant milestone for Lac La Biche and the culmination of over 20 years of advocacy by parents, students, staff and the Board of Trustees," said Board Chair Karen Packard. "Choosing a name is a vital part of creating a new identity and sense of pride for the students and staff who will call this building home for decades to come."
NLPS is committed to a collaborative process to select a name for the new school. Community members are invited to share their suggestions for names by completing a form online between now and Thursday, February 5th. All submissions will be reviewed and a formal submission will be made to the Board at the end of February. Once a potential name is selected by the Board, the public will have an additional opportunity to provide feedback before the name is finalized.
