After falling 35-15 in pool play to the Our Lady of Fatima Falcons, the St. John Henry Newman Firebirds were looking to pull off the upset when the two teams met in the final of Niagara Classic Invitational Elementary Basketball Tournament Friday at St. Denis.

The Firebirds led 9-8 at the half and 18-13 heading into the final quarter before Nkasiobi Ogolo decided to take charge.
She cut the lead to 18-15 with a basket a minute and a half into the final quarter and then after a teammate netted a free throw with 4:29 left in the game, she scored the final six points of the game to give her team a 22-18 victory. Ogolo finished with 17 points and seemed to grab every defensive rebound in the final quarter.
The Grade 7 student admitted to being a little worried that her team wouldn't be able to make a comeback
"But I calmed down and took a deep breath."
