Education doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's shaped by the communities our students call home. That's why earlier this month, the Peace River School Division (PRSD) Board of Trustees hosted a joint meeting with representatives from the municipalities we serve.
One of the primary goals of the session was to pull back the curtain on the complexities of rural education. The Trustees shared their key advocacy priorities, with a deep dive into the Alberta rural school funding model. Small rural schools face unique logistical and financial challenges compared to their urban counterparts. By ensuring our local municipal leaders understand these nuances, we hope to create a united front when advocating for the sustainable funding our schools deserve.
