KENORA CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
KCDSB Announces Retirement of Principal Tammy Bush

March 11, 2026

The Kenora Catholic District School Board wishes to announce the upcoming retirement of Tammy Bush, Principal of St. John Paul II School, effective August 31, 2026.

Tammy's career in education spans 30 years, including 22 years with KCDSB. Throughout that time, she has served as a classroom teacher, Literacy Coach, Curriculum Coordinator, Early Years Lead, Vice-Principal and Principal at St. John Paul II School, a community she helped shape not only as an educator and leader, but also as a parent, with her own sons attending the school. In every role, Tammy has brought creativity, innovation, and a deep commitment to continuous improvement, always asking how we can strengthen supports and opportunities for students and families.

Tammy often speaks about the power of relationships and shared purpose:
"When we lead with heart and keep children at the centre, everything else falls into place." This belief has defined her leadership. She has consistently placed students and families first, understanding that schools thrive when trust, collaboration, and care are present. Her creative vision helped shape early years programming, strengthen literacy supports, and build a welcoming school culture grounded in faith and excellence. Tammy was also the creative mind behind the Board's wildly successful and joyful Early Years Arts and Design Festival, an initiative that continues to bring families together and celebrate the creativity of our youngest learners. She approaches challenges with optimism and courage, modelling resilience and an unwavering belief in what students and educators can achieve together.

Director of Education Jamey Robertson shared:
"Tammy leads consistently with both heart and vision. She is a creative thinker and truly unwavering in her commitment to students and families. Her unique and distinct approach to servant leadership has strengthened our entire system and shaped a school community that reflects care, faith, and excellence. We are deeply grateful for her years of dedication to Catholic education. On behalf of the Board, I wish Tammy a joyful and well-deserved retirement with Dan and her sons, filled with time, laughter, and the same love she has so generously shared throughout her career. We thank Tammy for her faithful service and the lasting legacy she leaves within our schools."

Please join KCDSB in extending sincere congratulations and best wishes to Tammy Bush, whose faithful leadership and dedication to students and families will continue to shape our school community for years to come.
