Westwind School Division is pleased to announce that Brett Ralph has been named the new Principal of Raymond High School, beginning with the 2026/2027 school year.
A Raymond native and RHS graduate, Ralph has dedicated his entire career to serving Westwind students. He has served as Vice Principal at Raymond High School for the past 7 years, following 2 years as a teacher there and 4 years at Raymond Junior High. His experience across multiple grade levels has given him a deep understanding of the school's culture and the values that shape the Raymond community.
Before entering education, Ralph played professional football as a wide receiver for the Calgary Stampeders from 2005 to 2009. A career highlight included the team's 2008 Grey Cup victory. He later retired from professional football to pursue his passion for teaching and educational leadership.
Ralph says he is grateful for the opportunity to lead Raymond High School as it enters a landmark chapter with the opening of its new facility.
"I have a natural excitement about taking on this challenge," Ralph said. "I am humbled to be trusted as a leader in our new school. I look forward to continuing to work with our staff and helping them grow as they help me grow. I'm also excited to continue working with the Raymond community."
Superintendent Darren Mazutinec says Ralph's strong connection to Raymond makes him an ideal leader for this transition.
"Brett truly understands Raymond High School because he has lived its culture as a student, a teacher, and an administrator," Mazutinec said. "His leadership and deep connection to this community make him an excellent choice to guide Raymond High School in the years ahead."
Raymond High School maintains a long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and community service. As the school prepares to move into its new building, Ralph will lead students and staff into the future while honouring those foundational traditions.
