Government Announces New Riverside School and Legal School Modernization Planning

Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools (GSACRD) is pleased to share that the Government of Alberta has announced planning approval and funding for a new K-9 school in the Riverside neighbourhood of St. Albert, as well as planning dollars for the modernization of Legal School.

This significant investment reflects the continued enrolment growth across our division and the strong support for Catholic education within our communities.

The new Riverside school will help address enrolment pressures in one of St. Albert's fastest-growing areas and will provide a vibrant, faith-filled learning environment designed to meet the needs of today's learners. The modernization planning for Legal School represents an important commitment to rural education and will support the long-term sustainability of Catholic education in the community of Legal.

"We are grateful to the Government of Alberta for recognizing the needs of our growing communities," said Dr. Clint Moroziuk, Superintendent of Schools. "We also extend our sincere thanks to Minister Nally for his support and advocacy on behalf of students and families in our region. These projects represent an important investment in the future of Catholic education."

Board Chair Lydia Yeomans added, "As a Board of Trustees, we are deeply committed to ensuring that families who choose Catholic education have access to high-quality learning environments that support both academic excellence and faith formation. This announcement reflects the strength and continued growth of our division, and we are thankful to see this investment in our students and communities."

While this announcement marks an important milestone, additional planning and design work will take place before construction timelines are confirmed. GSACRD will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
