Lethbridge School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Greenfield as vice-principal of École Agnes Davidson, commencing the 2026/2027 school year.
For Greenfield, building a thriving school community is all about cultivating relationships and developing an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and can come together to realize the school's vision.
"Learning a second language has provided me with several amazing opportunities that have strongly shaped who I am and have expanded my world vision," said Greenfield. "I am excited to help lead a school that will equip students with a solid foundation in French so that they can discover new cultures and the joy of learning another language. I look forward to continuing to build the unique communauté française' that is at the heart of École Agnes Davidson."
Greenfield is highly committed to supporting solid literacy and numeracy initiatives in the classroom and always strives to weave their application into every aspect of school life.
"When staff and parents come together to create authentic French experiences, where students can play' in French, magic happens!" she said. "Whether it be Aggie-Vision, Carnaval or a Cultural Food Tasting, student literacy and numeracy skills come to life as these extensions reinforce the skills taught in the classroom."
Greenfield served as a French Immersion teacher at Gilbert Paterson Middle School, a Learning Support Teacher at École Nicholas Sheran and a Learning Support Teacher at École Agnes Davidson before she was named acting vice-principal at Davidson in 2026. In 2014 she received the APEGA Teacher Award: Who Makes School Cool? She was nominated for this same award in 2008 and was also nominated for an Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award.

"Being surrounded by dedicated colleagues who view students through a growth mindset lens and who provide multiple access points to learning is inspiring. I am a passionate learner, and I look forward to learning side by side with my school community as we pursue new ways to enhance our current practice. I strongly believe that through collaborative leadership, we can make positive, impactful changes that build upon the unique strengths and viewpoints that everyone brings to the table, resulting in a caring community where all students can succeed.
Outside of Lethbridge School Division, Greenfield worked as an English Language Monitor at École Secondaire Champagnat in Quebec, and moved on to become an Education Outreach Coordinator at Science East, in Fredericton New Brunswick, where she delivered science presentations to schools and helped organize and delivered Summer Science Institutes in French and English to teachers through the University of New Brunswick. While in New Brunswick, she held the position of District Enrichment Mentor Teacher, where she coordinated the Autonomous Learner Program for gifted and talented students across the school division. Greenfield was also seconded to the University of Lethbridge, where she taught and mentored student teachers and organized the Regional Science Olympics for southern Alberta.

Greenfield has earned a Bachelor of Education with Great Distinction from the University of Lethbridge, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario.
She has applied to the University of New Brunswick to begin a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
