Pembina Hills School Division is pleased to announce the addition of a CASA Mental Health Classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. Delivered in partnership with CASA Mental Health and the Government of Alberta, this provincially funded program brings together mental health care and classroom learning to better support students.
The CASA Classroom is designed for students in Grades 4-12 whose mental health needs have not been fully met through previous interventions. The program supports up to 12 students at a time within a specific grade range and is staffed by a team of CASA mental health professionals, a specialized teacher, and support staff.
Students in the program participate in individual therapy, group therapy, and daily social-emotional learning, all within a structured classroom setting. Each student attends for one semester, followed by a semester of transition support to help ensure a successful return to their home school.
The CASA Classroom will be hosted at École Barrhead Elementary School, with the first students expected to begin in September 2026.
This initiative reflects Pembina Hills' ongoing commitment to valuing and supporting wellness and to providing inclusive, responsive supports that help all learners succeed.
