Celebrating Excellence in Catholic Education at the S.P.I.C.E. Retreat

STAR Catholic Schools is proud to celebrate David Murphy, who was recognized with the Excellence in Catholic Education Award at the Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association (ACSTA) S.P.I.C.E. Retreat in Kananaskis.

The S.P.I.C.E. Retreat brings together Catholic education leaders from across Alberta for a time of reflection, faith formation, and shared learning. Grounded in the pillars of Spirituality, Prayer, Instruction, Community, and Evangelization, the retreat offers an opportunity to renew our shared commitment to Catholic education and the students we serve.

During this year's gathering, David Murphy was honoured for his outstanding contributions and dedication to Catholic education. This recognition reflects his commitment to supporting students, fostering faith-filled learning environments, and living out the mission of Catholic education in meaningful ways.

Superintendent Laurie Kardynal also shared reflections during the retreat, highlighting the importance of faith, leadership, and community in shaping strong Catholic schools. Her message emphasized the role each of us plays in creating environments where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to grow.
