Brandon Heck named as St. Teresa of Avila School Principal, effective August 26, 2026

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brandon Heck as Principal of St. Teresa of Avila School effective August 26, 2026.

Brandon Heck is a committed, faith-filled leader who brings 18 years of dedicated service to Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools. Throughout his career, Brandon has demonstrated a deep commitment to student success, inclusive education, collaborative leadership, and fostering meaningful engagement in Catholic education among staff, students, and families.

Brandon began his teaching career at St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School in 2008. In 2015, he served as a counsellor at St. Francis of Assisi Middle School. In 2017, Brandon was appointed Vice Principal of St. Patrick's Community School, where he served until 2020.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Brandon led the division's At-Home Learning Program, supporting more than 1,000 students in an online learning environment. 

His leadership then expanded as Director of Alternative Programming, overseeing Home Education, High School Online Learning, and the implementation of a new Learning Management System across the division.

In 2023, Brandon was appointed Principal of Maryview School, where he has faithfully served the school community for the past three years.

Brandon holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. He and his family are active members of St. Mary's Parish, where he serves as a Eucharistic Minister.

Brandon is excited to join the St. Teresa of Avila School community and looks forward to working in partnership with students, staff, and families to continue nurturing a vibrant and faith-filled learning environment.
