WESTWIND SCHOOL DIVISION
Raymond Elementary Teacher Nominated for Edwin Parr Award

June 1, 2026

A first-year teacher at Raymond Elementary School is being recognized for making an immediate impact in the classroom.

Reagan Wilde, a Grade 1 teacher at Raymond Elementary School, has been nominated by Westwind School Division for the 2026 Edwin Parr Teacher Award, which recognizes outstanding first-year teachers across Alberta.

The Edwin Parr Award honours new teachers who demonstrate excellence in the Teaching Quality Standard during their first year in the profession.

Raymond Elementary School Principal Jerry Salmon said Wilde has quickly distinguished herself through her ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues while creating a calm, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

"Reagan has a tremendous ability to connect with students, parents and colleagues," said Salmon.

Salmon also praised Wilde's commitment to supporting all learners and creating meaningful learning experiences tailored to individual student needs.

Wilde graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Kinesiology. She currently teaches Grade 1 at Raymond Elementary School.

Throughout her first year of teaching, Wilde has embraced mentorship opportunities, collaborated with colleagues across the division, and continually sought ways to strengthen her instructional practice and support student learning.

"When I observe her classroom, I get the feeling that each student would tell you that they are her favourite," Salmon wrote.

In addition to her classroom work, Wilde contributes to the broader school community through collaboration, literacy support, and relationship-building with students, families, and staff.

Nominees from southern Alberta school divisions will be recognized during the Edwin Parr Awards banquet on Wednesday, May 20.

The Edwin Parr Teacher Award is presented annually by the Alberta School Boards Association and celebrates exceptional first-year teachers from school divisions across the province.

A feature video highlighting Wilde's classroom and teaching practices will be shared publicly following the Edwin Parr Awards banquet.
