Profile of Jessica Martin: The Next Principal of Rossville School

Jessica Martin has been selected as the next Principal of Rossville School in Coleville.

"Jessica is a dedicated educator whose experience, leadership, and focus on student success make her well suited for this role," stated Darryl Seguin, Sun West Director of Education. "Her existing connections with the students, staff, and community, will be a great foundation to build on," he added.

Ms. Martin holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Her training supports a thoughtful, student-centred approach and a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

Since 2023, Ms. Martin has been a full-time teacher at Rossville School, where she taught a multi-grade Kindergarten to Grade 3 classroom. She demonstrated strong instructional skill by designing lessons that meet the needs of multiple grade levels and diverse learners. She used student data to guide literacy and math programming and created flexible groupings to support targeted instruction.

She also promoted a positive school culture by reinforcing shared values and helping students build strong social-emotional skills. Her work to develop a dedicated space for self-regulation shows her commitment to inclusion and student well-being.

Previously, Ms. Martin taught at Biggar Central School 2000, where she worked across both elementary and secondary grades. She co-taught Grade 3 and independently taught Grade 9 Health, gaining valuable experience in collaboration and adaptability.

Ms. Martin has taken on key leadership roles within the school. She supported administrative tasks, coordinated staff schedules, and communicated with families. She also served in acting administrative roles, ensuring school operations ran smoothly.

In addition, Ms. Martin has mentored new teachers and led professional development sessions. Her experience with student support processes and collaboration with staff highlights her ability to lead school improvement efforts.

"I've loved my time at Rossville School over the past three years, and I'm excited to step into this new role in a community that means so much to me," said Ms. Martin. "Having built strong relationships with our students, staff, and families, I am deeply invested in their continued growth and success. I look forward to building on the strong, supportive foundation already in place and continuing the positive environment our school is known for," she concluded.
