The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is pleased to announce the new appointments of five Vice-Principals for the 2026/27 academic year. Each of these individuals brings with them a wealth of experience, dedication, and a shared commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring environment for students, staff, and families.
Douglas Robertshaw - Fort McMurray Islamic School
Mr. Douglas Robertshaw joins the Fort McMurray Islamic School as Vice-Principal, bringing more than a decade of experience in education. He began his career as an elementary school teacher in Calgary before transitioning to junior high English Language Arts. In 2020, Mr. Robertshaw moved to Fort McMurray and joined Holy Trinity High School, where he primarily taught junior high Math and Science for five years. Most recently, he served as the Learning Assistance Coach supporting the Life Skills program and EAL Coordinator at Fort McMurray Composite High School.
Mr. Robertshaw holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Education (Elementary Generalist) from the University of Calgary as well as a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Alberta.
"Every school has its own unique story, traditions, and strengths, and I am grateful for the opportunity to become part of this community while contributing my own experiences as an educator. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while learning from the people who make this school special," Mr. Robertshaw shares.
Shannon Dube - École McTavish High School
Ms. Shannon Dube assumes the role of Vice-Principal at École McTavish High School, bringing 19 years of dedicated experience with FMPSD. Her career includes teaching Grades 2 through 6 at Timberlea Public School, as well as division-wide leadership as the Numeracy Coordinator and Career Education Coordinator. Most recently, she served as Acting Vice-Principal at École McTavish.
Ms. Dube holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge, and recently earned her Master of Education in Administration and Leadership from Brandon University.
"I am super excited to continue working with the students, staff, and community at École McTavish!" Ms. Dube shares.
Jennifer Africa - Thickwood Heights Public School
Ms. Jennifer Africa steps into the position of Vice-Principal at Thickwood Heights Public School, bringing 28 years of educational experience. Throughout her career, Ms. Africa has worked in a variety of educational settings from Kindergarten to Grade 12, with a strong focus on learning assistance, special education, behaviour support, and inclusive education.
Ms. Africa holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Yorkville University.
"I am excited to join a community where the arts come alive and Thunderbirds soar. I look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families and helping create a school culture where every learner feels inspired, connected, and empowered to reach their full potential," says Ms. Africa.
Denise Morris - Christina Gordon Public School
With over 20 years of experience, Ms. Denise Morris joins Christina Gordon Public School as Vice-Principal. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of working with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 as both a teacher and vice-principal. Ms. Morris also served as the FMPSD Literacy Coordinator for four years, supporting classrooms across the division and helping to strengthen literacy instruction and student achievement.
Ms. Morris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cape Breton University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Maine, and a Master of Education in Administration and Policy from St. Francis Xavier University.
"I look forward to working with the staff, students, and community at Christina Gordon," Ms. Morris explains.
Rachel Harris - Timberlea Public School
Ms. Rachel Harris steps into the role of Vice-Principal at Timberlea Public School, the very school where she began her teaching career in 2011. Having grown up in Fort McMurray and attended École Dickinsfield and Westwood High School, Ms. Harris has deep roots in the community and has spent the majority of her 15-year career teaching Grade 4 at Timberlea.
Ms. Harris earned her Bachelor of Education through the collaborative program between Keyano College and the University of Alberta. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education through the University of Calgary.
"I am thrilled for the opportunity to support Timberlea School in this new role. I look forward to working with the staff, students, and parents to continue making Timberlea School a great place to grow and learn," Ms. Harris expresses.
Sobhi Hamed - Dr. K.A. Clark Public School
Mr. Sobhi Hamed joins Dr. K.A. Clark Public School as Vice-Principal, bringing a decade of educational experience and a deeply personal connection to the school. A former student of Dr. K.A. Clark and graduate of Composite High School, his teaching career includes eight years covering diverse subjects like robotics, computer science, junior high math, and high school English, followed by two years of experience as a Vice-Principal.
Mr. Hamed earned his Bachelor of Education at Keyano College and a Master of Education from the University of Calgary. He will be beginning his Doctorate in Education this summer.
"I am looking forward to joining Dr. Clark School next year. Having grown up in the building, returning as Vice-Principal is incredibly meaningful, and I am focused on supporting the staff, students, and families in a successful school year ahead," Mr. Hamed shares.
Robert Skulsky - École McTavish High School
Mr. Robert Skulsky steps into the role of Vice-Principal at École McTavish High School, bringing 22 years of educational and administrative experience within FMPSD. His extensive background includes serving as a Teacher and Literacy Coach, Off-Campus Coordinator, and 13 years of experience as a Vice-Principal across Fort McMurray Composite High School, Walter and Gladys Hill Public School, and Dr. K.A. Clark Public School.
Mr. Skulsky holds a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of New England.
"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. I look forward to working with the staff, students, and community at École McTavish," Mr. Skulsky notes.
Kristen Craig - École McTavish High School
Ms. Kristen Craig joins École McTavish High School as Vice-Principal, bringing a diverse background of experience within FMPSD's French Immersion programs. She began her journey with the division as an Educational Assistant at École Dickinsfield and École McTavish before completing her teaching degree in 2016. Since then, Ms. Craig has taught Division 2 French Immersion at École Dickinsfield and spent a year teaching with the E-cademy. Beyond the classroom, she has been deeply involved in student life, dedicating her time to extracurriculars such as musical productions, sports coaching, and robotics.
Ms. Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, specializing in French as a Second Language and International Education, from the University of Prince Edward Island. She also earned a Master of Educational Leadership from Memorial University in 2022.
"I am grateful for my time at École Dickinsfield, where I have had the privilege of working alongside exceptional students, families, and staff. The relationships and experiences I have gained here have shaped me both personally and professionally. While it is difficult to leave such a supportive community, I am excited to be back as a Marauder at École McTavish. I look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families and working together to continue fostering a positive and engaging learning environment," Ms. Craig shares.
