On Thursday, June 18, MPP Anthony Leardi joined Greater Essex County District School Board Chief Executive Officer Vicki Houston, along with staff, students, and families at Gosfield North Central School to announce a $5.1 million investment that will support the creation of 55 new elementary student spaces and 73 licensed child care spaces.
"The funding for the Gosfield North Central School Addition in Cottam is great news for our community," said Anthony Leardi, MPP for Essex. "Through this investment, we're creating opportunities for students to thrive well into the future."
The Greater Essex County District School Board is grateful to the Government of Ontario for this important investment in the Gosfield North Central School community and to MPP Leardi for taking the time to celebrate this milestone alongside students, staff, and families.
Chief Executive Officer Vicki Houston shared, "The addition of 55 new elementary student spaces and 73 licensed child care spaces will help ensure that Gosfield North Central School continues to meet the needs of families within its community, while supporting the staff who provide care and education each day. This investment of $5.1 million reflects a shared commitment to supporting growing communities and ensuring students have access to high-quality learning environments close to home."
One of the highlights of the announcement was the opportunity for students to take part in a question-and-answer session with MPP Leardi. Their thoughtful curiosity was on full display as they asked questions ranging from, "When will the addition be complete?" to the lighthearted, "Why are you dressed like you work for the government?" Their enthusiasm added a memorable and joyful touch to the morning's celebration.
The Greater Essex County District School Board extends its sincere appreciation to the Government of Ontario and MPP Leardi for their continued support. We look forward to sharing updates with the community as this exciting project moves forward.
