LAMBTON KENT DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Anne McFadyen Scholarships Awarded to Six Outstanding GLSS Graduates

July 7, 2026

Six exceptional graduating students from Great Lakes Secondary School (GLSS) have been selected as recipients of the 2026 Anne McFadyen Scholarships, a transformative award made possible through the generosity of community partners and the legacy of an inspiring local leader. Each scholarship, valued at $15,000, supports students as they pursue post-secondary education and continue their journeys of leadership, service, and academic excellence.

The scholarships honour the life and legacy of Anne McFadyen, a trailblazing lawyer, judge, and community advocate. Anne was the first woman to serve as President of the Lambton Law Association and later as a respected judge of the Ontario Court of Justice. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was known for her passion for running, travel, and her deep commitment to charitable work.

Established through the generosity of Anne's husband, George, the Sarnia Community Foundation, and Great Lakes Secondary School, the scholarships recognize students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and financial need.

"Each of these students has made a meaningful impact on our school community," said Nathan Jeffrey, Principal of Great Lakes Secondary School. "The Anne McFadyen Scholarships not only support their next steps, but also honour their dedication, character, and commitment to excellence. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and the opportunities it creates for our graduates."
