OCDSB marches for inclusivity at 2026 Capital Pride Parade

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) brought an energetic delegation to the 2026 Capital Pride Parade on Sunday, August 30th, taking to the streets to champion diversity and belonging across the region.

Many OCDSB staff members and families marched through the core of downtown Ottawa, including Supervisor Robert Plamondon, CEO Stacey Kay and Chief Education Officer Brett Reynolds.

Participating was more than just a celebration it served as a powerful reminder of what happens when a community unites to ensure every student and staff member feels seen, supported, and free to shine.

The District's strong presence was part of a record-breaking parade that brought downtown Ottawa to life in a vibrant sea of rainbow flags and dynamic floats. Embracing this year's theme, Together, We Shine', the event celebrated the strength of community, connection, and 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility.

According to Capital Pride, packed crowds cheered behind metal barriers as over 225 groups and more than 11,000 parade participants made their way through the city. Marshalled by former Ottawa Charge captain Brianne Jenner, the parade proved to be an unforgettable showcase of unity.
