From Sept. 21 to 25, more than 400 elementary and secondary Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) students came together for the fourth annual Student Mental Health Ambassador Symposium, hosted in collaboration with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

This event helps empower students to be leaders in their school communities, exploring various leadership styles and providing an opportunity to learn about mental health promotion. Through outdoor learning and interactive workshops, students explored positive mental health, belonging, and well-being while strengthening their leadership skills.
Student ambassadors will take the knowledge, connections, and ideas gained at the symposium to their schools, where they can work with their peers to identify local needs and lead initiatives to support mental health and well-being within their school communities.
This initiative links directly to the SCDSB Strategic Priorities in the areas of Well-being, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Community.
