New Principal Announcement - Evergreen Elementary in Edson

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Debra Boos as Evergreen Elementary School's new principal, effective September 1, 2016.

Ms. Boos took over as Assistant Principal at Evergreen this past year as well as their Learning Support Teacher. Although Debra has been teaching in Northern B.C. for the last several years, she is originally from Edson and was glad to return to be closer to family.

Superintendent of Schools, Cory Gray, looks forward to working with Debra in her new administrative role with the division. "We were impressed with Debra's wealth of knowledge and experience when she first applied with Grande Yellowhead last fall; I believe she will continue to excel as an innovative leader and positive team player as principal of Evergreen School."

Ms. Boos received her Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2013 as well as an International Montessori Teaching Diploma in 2014. She is an active member of the Alberta Council for School Leadership, and has received several awards for academic excellence and business management. Her new position aligns with her career and educational goals as she strives to create a workplace that fosters optimal learning and success for students.

"My vision is that all students will be successful and learning at high levels within a supportive school community that promotes positive and respectful interactions between all members, notes Debra. "I work to fulfill this vision by providing and promoting the following: excellence in instruction and pedagogy, open communication systems, relationship building, coaching and mentorship and ongoing parent/community involvement. We have great working relationships at Evergreen and I am looking forward to building upon this strength of collaboration between all our stakeholders."

Evergreen Elementary School is located in Edson, AB and currently has a population of 249 students from Kindergarten to Grade 5.
