Schools welcome new Principals this September

Some of the Rainbow District School Board's elementary schools will welcome new Principals when classes resume on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

Christy Case, Principal, Central Manitoulin Public School (K to Grade 8, English)

Christy Case has been appointed Principal of Central Manitoulin Public School. She served as Principal of Charles C. McLean Public School in Gore Bay for the past four years. Prior to this appointment, she was Vice-Principal of Little Current Public School for two and a half years. She was also a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. Christy Case has taught various grades from Kindergarten to Grade 8 in Rainbow Schools on Manitoulin Island. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community of Central Manitoulin Public School.

Tracey Chapman, Principal, Charles C. McLean Public School (K to Grade 8, English)

Tracey Chapman has been appointed Principal of Charles C. McLean Public School. She served as Principal of Central Manitoulin Public School in Mindemoya for several years. Prior to this appointment, Principal Chapman taught various grades from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in Rainbow Schools in both Sudbury and Manitoulin Island. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community of Charles C. McLean Public School in Gore Bay.

Lesley Fisher, Principal of Program

Lesley Fisher will share her expertise on a system-wide level as Principal of Program. She has served as Principal of Carl A. Nesbitt Public School and Ernie Checkeris Public School for the past two years.  Prior to this, she was Principal of Walden Public School for five years.  A classroom teacher since 1993, Principal Fisher taught a variety of grades in both the French Immersion and English programs prior to her appointment as a school administrator.  Born and raised in New Sudbury, she is a graduate of Carl A. Nesbitt Public School and the Rainbow District School Board's French Immersion program. 

Kerri Monaghan, Principal, Ernie Checkeris Public School (K to Grade 3 - French Immersion), Carl A. Nesbitt Public School (Grade 3 to Grade 8 - French Immersion)

Kerri Monaghan has been appointed Principal of Carl A. Nesbitt Public School and Ernie Checkeris Public School. She has served as Vice-Principal of Churchill Public School, Redwood Acres Public School and Wembley Public School. Since joining Rainbow District School Board in 2001, Kerri Monaghan has taught in the elementary panel, primarily in the Intermediate division. She has also contributed to many system-wide events for the benefit of all students. Principal Monaghan looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and members of the public in the New Sudbury community.

Jodie Pakkala, Principal, Adamsdale Public School (K to Grade 6 - English)

Jodie Pakkala has been appointed Principal of Adamsdale Public School. She has been Vice-Principal at Princess Anne Public School for the past six years. Prior to her appointment as an administrator, she taught a variety of grades at Churchill Public School since 2000.  Jodie Pakkala believes in building strong relationships with students, families and the school community to ensure student success.  She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and partners at Adamsdale Public School.

The first day of school is Wednesday, September 7, 2016. 

There will be no early dismissal on the first day.
