The Francophone School Board of Newfoundland and Labrador (CSFP) is happy to announce the arrival of its new Director of Education, Mrs. Kim Christianson, who will take office on December 12, 2016.
Born in Ontario, Mrs. Christianson attended a French high school in Hearst. She has completed a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters in Health Administration (as well as a Doctorate after her thesis defense). Mrs. Christianson possesses School Principal qualifications, parts 1 and 2, an Ontario Supervisory Officer Certificate, and is certified as a School Administrator for Children in need. She is also registered with the Ontario College of Teachers.
Mrs. Christianson has worked as a school principal in both Elementary and Secondary Schools in Ontario since 2007, and has accomplished a number of teaching tasks. She founded three new French schools over the past 10 years. She also worked at the Ontario Institute for Education Leadership, as Project Manager for "Leading Safe and Tolerant Schools" between 2014 and 2016. Furthermore, she invested some time as Director of Education of a public school board in an isolated rural community with a majority of First Nations citizens.
During her career, she held positions that required a true sense of leadership and the ability to manage a wide variety of projects. Her energy, determination, expertise, sense of initiative, as well as her human values and her ability to establish good interpersonal relationships and efficient partnerships are key qualities to take on the role of Director of Education at the CSFP. Mrs. Christianson values collaboration in her leadership style.
"It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I accept this position of Director of Education with the CSFP. For me, it is vital that schools and communities work together to create welcoming, safe and inclusive spaces, so that all of our young people can become citizens that are open to the world as a whole. It is crucial that students are able to express their pride of being Francophone and appreciate diversity. I am very proud of becoming part of the CSFP family where, together, we can reach our goals."
As the new Director of Education of the CSFP, Mrs. Christianson will meet the staff and members of the francophone communities of each region. We wish her full success in her new role.
