On February 5, 2018, the Louis Riel School Division introduced a new online Treaty Education Portal.
The Portal Launch brought administration and teachers from across the Division to the board office, where staff from LRSD presented on what the portal is, how it works and why it will be a positive change to the way teachers in LRSD discuss Treaty and Indigenous history in the classroom.
The portal is an online resource that LRSD teachers can access with a variety of lesson plans, games & activities, videos, maps & timelines and more. Created through a collaboration of teachers in the Division, the Treaty Education Portal will bring teachers and students in LRSD together in learning about Canadian history through strong sources for all grade levels.
The day included an opening prayer from Elder Jules Lavallee, presentations from the LRSD team members who helped develop the portal and a special guest presentation from Manitoba Treaty Commissioner Loretta Ross.
