DURHAM DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
DDSB Students Continue to Achieve Above Provincial Results on EQAO Tests

September 24, 2018

Student achievement and success remains a guiding focus for educators and staff at the Durham District School Board (DDSB).
The latest results released by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) show that DDSB students are achieving above the provincial outcomes in all nine areas of assessment.

There was a slight fluctuation in results compared to last year in Grade 3 and 6 Math, and Grade 9 Applied Math. However, they still remain higher than provincial results overall. The Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) result is also up for the first time in three years, and is above the provincial outcomes for first time eligible, fully participating students.

"These results are a culmination of a number of years of work to support our students," states Michael Barrett, Chairperson of the Board. "We are incredibly proud of all our DDSB students and their achievement."

"We are proud of the effort from our teachers and principals," says Lisa Millar, Director of Education at the DDSB. "Our educators' continued focus on improving literacy and numeracy, and developing programs to support learning, shows our teacher's commitment and dedication to our students. We are proud of our students and all staff."

In late September, all parents/guardians will receive an Individual Student Report about their child's results from the previous school year's assessment. School reports detailing individual school results are available on the DDSB website at http://ddsb.ca/Parents/HelpingYourChildSucceed/EQAO/Pages/EQAO-Results.aspx, or on the EQAO website, at EQAO.com.
