On Tuesday, September 11, Ray John Jr, Indigenous cultural teacher for the LDCSB, was awarded the "Truth" Atlohsa Peace Award for working "tirelessly in the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation" and embodying "the Seven Sacred Teachings."
Ray was one of seven honourees chosen from among 24 nominees. He will be honoured at the Atlohsa Peace Awards ceremony at the London Convention Center on Thursday, October 11.
Ray's role in the LDCSB has grown over his 4 years with the Board. He has become an essential part of the lives of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in our system. We are very proud of this great honour he has received while doing Truth and Reconciliation work with the teachers and students of the LDCSB.
