The Board of Trustees of Aspen View Public Schools is pleased to announce that Neil O'Shea has been appointed as Superintendent of Aspen View Public Schools.
"Neil has served our school division well for the past number of years as an associate/deputy superintendent, and he has proven himself time and time again as a great leader," Board of Trustees Chair Dennis MacNeil said. "Neil s ability to build relationships speaks volumes in terms of the qualities we were looking for in a new superintendent. We have great faith in his abilities to lead our school division into the future."
Neil has more than 20 years' experience in school leadership. He served as a school-based administrator with Sturgeon School Division from 1993-2009, followed by a three-year term as a Senior Education Manager with Alberta Education. He returned to school-based administration for two years before joining Aspen View as Deputy Superintendent in 2014.
Neil holds both Bachelor and Masters of Education degrees from the University of Alberta.
"The system priorities identified by the Board of Trustees of Aspen View Public Schools provide a laser-sharp focus on helping students be the best that they can be," Neil says. "This focus is in direct alignment with my philosophical beliefs about education, and I have a passion to lead our division and work collaboratively with our Board of Trustees to develop and implement a vision focused on student achievement. I am honoured and humbled to be chosen as the leader for this school division, and I look forward to building on the tradition of excellence in all of our schools."
