On October 1, 2018, Toronto Maple Leafs' newest fan favourite, John Tavares, returned home to St. Luke Catholic Elementary to pay tribute to his past.

The Oakville native was given the opportunity to live his childhood dream when he signed a 7-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this year.
This past week, the St. Luke and St. Thomas Aquinas alumnus took a trip down memory lane when he went to visit his former elementary school. The big time NHL star roamed the halls as he reminisced on his time at the school, and visited his former teacher, Marcia Leahy, who was an influential mentor on his road to success.
Tavares also received a Principal's award upon his visit for being a responsible citizen and caring member of the St. Luke community.
