Official Opening of Sister Alphonse Academy

On Tuesday, October 23 the Sister Alphonse Academy school community and dignitaries gathered to officially celebrate the opening of the school. His Grace, Archbishop Smith was on hand to give a blessing to all the classrooms, and Minister David Eggen and MLA Horne presented a dedication plaque to mark this historic occasion. In addition, the Grey Nuns were in attendance and it was truly fitting for them to witness their legacy in the region given the namesake of the school, Sister Alphonse, a Sister of Charity of Montreal (Grey Nun) was the first teacher in the district. Student emcees Ayden and Bianca did a remarkable job! Thank you to all those who attended the celebrations and to Zachary for helping us get that ribbon cut.
