ANNAPOLIS VALLEY REGIONAL CENTRE FOR EDUCATION
AVRCE Regional Executive Director of Education Announced

Dave Jones has been named the Regional Executive Director of Education for the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education, effective Monday, April 1, 2019.

Mr. Jones began his career in 1992 teaching at Horton District High School. He has held leadership positions in the Annapolis Valley Regional Center for Education (AVRCE), including Director of Programs and Services since 2008, and most recently Acting Regional Executive Director since May 2018. As Director of Programs and Services, Mr. Jones led many initiatives to improve student achievement.

Mr. Jones has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University, a Bachelor of Education degree from Dalhousie University, and a Masters of Education degree from Acadia University.  He also holds an Executive Leadership Certificate from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, and has taught in the Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education programs at Acadia University and Mount St. Vincent University.

The appointment follows a national search coordinated by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Cathy Montreuil, Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, made this announcement to AVRCE school communities on March 27.
