TORONTO
Toronto school rewarded for a student-made video encouraging bystanders to possibly save a life by performing CPR

June 19, 2019

A brother and sister team of Toronto student videographers - Amanda and Joshua Feld - received a $5,000 cheque yesterday for their school as winners of a "viral video" contest called You Are the Strongest Link under the Toronto Paramedic Services' Safe City Program. The award of $5,000, donated by sponsor Enbridge Gas, was presented at the school, Ursula Franklin Academy.

The contest, which generated a variety of creative entries, challenged students of the Toronto District School Board to create an awareness video about the importance of bystanders conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an effort to save the life of someone suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

The winning video features people of various ages who could be susceptible to a sudden cardiac arrest and their survival dependent on the skills of a bystander willing and able to take appropriate action with CPR before paramedics arrive. The video can be viewed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n6j-I_Vvl8&feature=youtu.be.
