More than 800 CBE Students to Learn about Social Justice Issues at My World Conference

February 20, 2020

More than 800 middle and junior high school student leaders and their teachers from nearly 30 schools will be inspired to action at the 12th annual My World Conference on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020.

This event is a unique opportunity that allows students the opportunity to come together to celebrate leadership and learn from local, national and international organizers and activists. The theme for this year's conference is "My Mind. My Story. My World".

Student leaders will hear from and engage with presenters speaking about local and global social justice issues, with a focus on wellness, including: Graham Mosimann, Jerry Kagemusha, Alex Brown, Anita Thomson, Ashley Lamantia, Tory English, Antyx and CBE Chief Superintendent Christopher Usih.

The My World Conference continues to inform the next generation of leaders to support a variety of communities. Students are introduced to NGOs and non-profit organizations through workshops and information booths. The conference also celebrates our country's Indigenous roots and nations.

The My World Conference continues to encourage Calgary Board of Education students to act through inspiration, with compassion, and lead with their hearts.
