Taking place on both November 25 and 26, depending on the student's cohort, individuals pledged a minimum of $20 to not speak, text or email for 18.5 hours.

Money raised benefited the De Mazenod Door Outreach Program at St. Patrick Church which helps feed the homeless and marginalized in Hamilton.

The response was amazing, said Chaplaincy Leader Don Hall, who noted that while the fundraiser is not new to St. Mary, this is the first time proceeds were raised for the De Mazenod Door.

In total, $6,025 was raised, which was shared at a cheque presentation on December 8.

"We are very proud of the generosity of our young people and their loved ones," said Principal Brian Daly. "We are so happy to support the good work of our friends at the De Mazenod Door and hope that it helps make Christmas a little better for their patrons."
