LESTER B. PEARSON SCHOOL BOARD
Electricity and carpentry students collaborate to expand classrooms

March 11, 2021

Lester B. Pearson School Board recently hosted a collaboration between Electricity students from Pearson Electrotechnology Centre (PEC) and Carpentry students from Chateauguay Valley Career Centre (CVCC). With guidance from teachers, students put their new skills to work as they helped expand some classrooms at Pearson Electrotechnology Centre. The expansion will allow PEC to start more Electricity programs, which are highly sought after. There is currently a long waiting list to get into the program. PEC is the only centre, in Quebec, to offer the Electricity program in English.

Since 2016 PEC and CVCC have pooled their skills and resources to help the community, while giving students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in their respective trades. In 2016, students built a home for Habitat for Humanity. The home was built at CVCC and transported to the site. In 2019, students built another lab at PEC.
