"We are extremely pleased to receive the good news of the approval to proceed to tender with the much-needed replacement St. James the Apostle Catholic Elementary School," said Chairperson Patrick J. Daly. "On behalf of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, I want to express our deep appreciation to MPP Donna Skelly for her strong advocacy of this important project."
The new elementary school will provide a new, quality learning environment for students in Upper Stoney Creek, as well as new child care spaces. The project is part of the province's capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces.
"The funding for the new St. James the Apostle Catholic Elementary School is great news for our community," said MPP Donna Skelly, MPP for Flamborough-Glanbrook. "This investment will ensure families and students have access to a quality learning environment and child care that meets their needs now and in the years to come."
The replacement elementary school will accommodate 599 students and provide 49 child care spaces in 3 child care rooms.
"Working families deserve access to high-quality child care and state-of-the-art schools with modern ventilation and safety top of mind," said Minister of Education Stephen Lecce. "By building a new St. James the Apostle CES along with three child care rooms, the Government of Ontario is supporting working families and preparing their children for lifelong success."
The new St. James the Apostle CES will be located at 29 John Murray Street, Stoney Creek.
