The North Vancouver School District is pleased to announce it has been awarded a one-time federal funding grant in the amount of $350,000 to support the expansion of its online French Immersion course offerings.
The school district will use the funding to develop an additional four Grade 10 - 12 online learning courses that are intended for any interested French Immersion student in the province who is looking to complete the requirements of the Dual Dogwood Diploma.
The additional courses will add to the existing suite of French Immersion course offerings available through the school district's École Virtuelle (North Vancouver Online Learning or NVOL) and should be available to students before the end of the 2022/2023 school year.
"NVOL's mission is to provide students with flexible, innovative and personalized pathways to graduation through interactive and engaging online experiences, offered in both English and French, " said Jennifer Tieche, Vice Principal, North Vancouver Online Learning. "The North Vancouver School District is therefore thrilled the Government of Canada and Ministry of Education and Child Care are supporting the school district's efforts to enhance its existing French Immersion course offerings to students throughout the province."
