Prince Albert- January 9, 2023- Mr. Mark Phaneuf announces his retirement from the Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division as the Principal of École St. Mary High School. He will retire effective January 31, 2023, as the longtime administrator and Principal of École St. Mary High School. Mark Phaneuf has accepted the Acting Superintendent of Human Resources and School Operations until June 30, 2023, for the Prince Albert Catholic School Division.

Dedicated and passionate about quality Catholic education, Mark has been heavily involved in various positions and committees in the school division. Mark has served as a Teacher Assistant, Teacher, Vice- Principal and Principal over his career. Mark began his teaching at St. Michael Community School in 1991. Mark has also held the administrative positions of Vice-Principal and Principal of St. Francis School and Principal of École St Mary High School for 18 years.
With this announcement, Mr. Dwayne Gareau has been named the Principal of École St. Mary High School. Mr. Gareau is currently the Vice-Principal at École St Mary High School and will assume the duties as Principal effective February 1, 2023. As a former student, teacher, coach and vice-principal of École St. Mary High School, Mr. Gareau brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Principalship role.

He comments, " I am excited to maintain and promote all of the positive academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities we offer students. We have an amazing staff and student body, and I look forward to working with them in my new role. At this time, I would like to sincerely thank Mark Phaneuf for his dedication and investment to École St Mary High School, and I have appreciated his administrative mentorship over the last eight years." Mark Phaneuf reflects, " I have immense gratitude for all the people I have worked with over the years and cherish all the relationships we have built. I will miss everyone. I encourage all of the Ecole St. Mary High School community members to continue sharing their God-given gifts to make this world a better place. I am confident and excited for Mr. Dwayne Gareau as he accepts this Principalship. I know that he and Vice Principal Jason Bourdon will continue to serve the school admirably going forward."
