COUNCIL OF NOVA SCOTIA UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS
Breaking New Ground on Credential Exchange Across Nova Scotia

August 10, 2023

On August 9, the Council of Nova Scotia University Presidents (CONSUP) announces the launch of four Nova Scotia universities on the ARUCC MyCreds National Network. These institutions include Dalhousie University, the University of King's College, Université Sainte-Anne, and Mount Saint Vincent University.

Through MyCredsTM, students at these schools will be able to access and share their academic documents with other colleges and universities, government, employers, and third parties securely, conveniently, and digitally. Documents issued through MyCredsTM have built in features that make any tampering immediately apparent and are digitally signed making them authentic and official.

Acadia University, Atlantic School of Theology, Cape Breton University, NSCAD University, St. Francis Xavier University, Saint Mary's University and the Nova Scotia Community College are expected to be part of the MyCredsTM Network in the coming months.

This province-wide innovation and collaboration in Nova Scotia is the first of its kind for the MyCredsTM Network and is the first project emerging from CONSUP's Post-Secondary Education Solutions strategy. Through this strategy, post-secondary education institutions in Nova Scotia will work together to improve student experience, modernize systems and processes, and increase competitiveness in the higher education sector.

Leadership, guidance, and funding support from CONSUP's partners at EduNova and the Department of Advanced Education are critical to the shared success of this initiative.

David C. Dingwall, President, Cape Breton University and Chair, CONSUP and Dr. Rob Summerby-Murray, President, Saint Mary's University and Vice-Chair, CONSUP commended the effort, work, and leadership institutions have shown through the MyCreds onboarding process. "By investing in this new technology, these schools have clearly demonstrated their commitment to their students and to continuing to deliver an exceptional student experience."

In addition to their roles in CONSUP, Presidents Dingwall and Summerby-Murray are members of EduNova's Board of Directors. "We look forward to the remaining schools in Nova Scotia, including ours, becoming part of MyCredsTM. We can clearly see the benefit this digital credential system will have on streamlining, modernizing, and future proofing our processes around official document sharing." They concluded by noting that, "Having all public post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia collaborate and innovate together in this way is an important demonstration of our collective commitment to improving student experience."
