Jolie Bird (Educational Art Technician, Fibre Department) collaborated on a remarkable piece of public art downtown.
Novus Textura is a site-specific public art installation by Gordon Skilling and Jolie Bird, drawing on the metaphor of the urban fabric as a fun and playful way of representing new directions in the ongoing development of downtown Calgary.
Interwoven on the solid foundations of the statuesque 8th Avenue Galleria Trees, Novus Textura symbolizes our city's history of collaborative innovation, bringing together a team of artists, designers, engineers, and fabricators, in representing Calgary's unceasing resiliency through challenging times.
