October 13, 2023

Dr. Lehmann has served as acting dean since 2021

Dr. Hugo Lehmann who has served in an acting capacity since 2021, has just been appointed as the new dean of the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing (TFSON).

Trent University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Hugo Lehmann as the new dean of the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing (TFSON). In his new role, Professor Lehmann will bring his strategic leadership to the TFSON, overseeing its faculty, staff, and students, and programs.

"As a leader, Hugo is a strategic thinker who has a clear vision on how to take the TFSON to even greater heights in research, academic programming and community service," said Dr. Michael Khan, Trent's provost and vice-president Academic. "Hugo's decision-making skills, along with his consultative and collaborative leadership style, are highly valued by colleagues within the TFSON and the University community. I look forward to continuing to work with Hugo in advancing the academic mission of the TFSON."

Prof. Lehmann's career at Trent began in 2007 when he joined the Psychology department. During his tenure in the department, he established an active behavioural neuroscience program and also ventured beyond traditional classroom and laboratory, taking on various administrative and leadership responsibilities including, for a time, the position of chair.

Since November 2021, Prof. Lehmann has served as the acting dean of the TFSON where his passion for research and teaching shone as a driving force behind his approach to administration. Under Prof. Lehmann's leadership, the TFSON has completed an administrative reorganization, enhanced its student-focused approach, and is developing an innovative B.Sc. nursing curriculum, all while actively supporting government initiatives to graduate more nurses.

"Working in the TFSON has been a fantastic experience. All members are dedicated to offering an exceptional learning experience and to educating highly qualified nurses," shared Prof. Lehmann. "I am honoured to be able to continue working with TFSON faculty, staff, and students; and I look forward to further supporting the TFSON's innovative developments occurring at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as its increased focus on research."
