AUArts alum Adrian Stimson (external link) will be the new Chair of the Board of Governors of Alberta University of the Arts, effective March 20, 2024.
Stimson has served as an External Governor of the Board since 2021. He is the first Indigenous Board Chair in AUArts' 98-year history.
Other new appointees to the Board of Governors include Patrick Chiu, effective March 20, 2024, and Ruby Gupta, effective March 11, 2024.
These new members were appointed on the recommendation of the Honourable Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advanced Education, and approved by Alberta's Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani. Stimson succeeds M. Carol Ryder, who has led the Board as Chair for 10 years and contributed significantly to AUArts.
We will soon share more information about our new Board members and recognize Ryder's contributions.
