Following a nationwide search, the Research Universities' Council of BC (RUCBC) is pleased to announce that Christina Zacharuk will be joining RUCBC as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective September 16, 2024.
"I am thrilled to welcome Christina to this new role", said hiring committee chair, Dr. Philip Steenkamp. "Christina's deep public sector experience, and her talent as a seasoned leader working with all levels of government, will serve BC's research universities well. We look forward to working with her."

Christina brings twenty years of experience in the BC Public Service, with the last ten years as a senior executive. She has served as the President & CEO of the Public Sector Employers' Council Secretariat, an Associate Deputy Minister to the Premier, and most recently, as Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
Christina brings significant expertise in every aspect of public sector bargaining, and broad expertise in policy development, including corporate governance, strategic labour relations, and executive and exempt compensation across the public sector. She holds a BA (Honours) in Sociology and a MA in Public Administration from the University of Victoria.
The RUCBC presidents would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Max Blouw, outgoing CEO of RUCBC. Over the past five years, Max has played a critical role in providing high-quality system-wide leadership around public policy, advocacy, and communication for the province's six research universities.
