Nipissing University's nursing grads shine in recent exam results

August 12, 2024

Nipissing University has once again demonstrated the exceptional quality of its Nursing program, as evidenced by the latest report from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The 2023 Nursing Registration Exams Report reveals that Nipissing's graduates have achieved impressive results, including a pass rate of 94.2%, underscoring the university's commitment to excellence in nursing education.

The report, which provides comprehensive data on the performance of nursing graduates across the province, highlights Nipissing University as a standout institution. Graduates from Nipissing consistently perform above the provincial average on the registration exams, reflecting the rigorous training and comprehensive support they receive throughout their studies.

"These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students, faculty, and staff. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment that equips our students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their nursing careers," said Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor of Nipissing University.

Dr. Ann-Barbara Graff, Provost and Vice President Academic, added, "The outstanding results achieved by our nursing graduates reflect the university's ongoing commitment to academic excellence and innovation in nursing education. We are proud of our students and faculty who continuously strive to enhance the quality of healthcare in our communities and beyond. As Nipissing continues to uphold its tradition of excellence in education, it remains committed to advancing the nursing field through teaching, research, and community engagement."

One of the most notable findings in the report is the high pass rate of Nipissing's graduates on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) exam. This exam, essential for obtaining a nursing license, is a critical benchmark for nursing competency. Nipissing's pass rate not only surpasses the provincial average, but also demonstrates the university's effective preparation strategies and the dedication of its faculty and staff.

"These scores highlight the dedication of our students and the exceptional training provided by our faculty and staff. Prioritizing student-centered learning ensures that graduates are not only competent, but compassionate and patient-focused caregivers," said Dr. Karey McCullough, Interim Associate Dean of the School of Nursing. "Nipissing graduates are well-prepared to meet the challenges of modern healthcare and to make a positive impact on the communities they serve."

Nipissing University's success is also attributed to its state-of-the-art simulation labs in The George and Helen Vari Simulation Centre, exceptional faculty and staff, extensive clinical placements across the province, and a curriculum that integrates the latest in nursing research and practice. This comprehensive educational experience equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the healthcare field.

Nipissing University's strong performance in the CNO report also highlights the institution's role in addressing the growing demand for skilled nurses in Ontario. With the healthcare system facing increasing pressures, the university's ability to produce highly qualified nursing professionals is more important than ever.
